Looking for a unique wedding reading? How about a FRIENDS-themed ceremony reading?
For fans of Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Pheebs, this funny wedding ceremony reading could not BE any more perfect. And don’t worry, we left the smelly cat at home.
Here’s the FRIENDS Wedding Reading:
The One Where You Got Married by Katelyn Peterson
May you remember to Pivot when times are tough.
And consider a cow’s opinion—it’s Moo—so don’t sweat the small stuff.
Be sure to ask, “How you doin” after a hard day.
And have Unagi so that, together, danger will not come your way.
Share everything, especially the Cheesecake.
And remember, from this day forward, you will never be “On a Break.”
May you feel enough true love to Get Off the Plane.
And do not keep score, not even when it’s in a silly Pacman Game.
They'll be there for you, that you can always concur.
And through every season of your happy marriage, you’ll have your lobster!
Why choose a funny wedding reading?
Your wedding ceremony should reflect your personality as a couple. When your guests leave the ceremony, you want them thinking…that was so you.
For couples who embody playfulness and humor in their relationship and everyday life, find ways to mirror this feeling in your wedding ceremony.
It can be through the music you choose, moments in your funny wedding vows, or through the readings.
Why did you write a FRIENDS-themed wedding ceremony reading?
I got married in 2020 and had a really challenging time finding non-religious ceremony readings that felt fun, unique, and current.
As a wedding vow writer, I recognized the opportunity for new wedding readings to be created.
Many of my couples tell me about their favorite shows and how binge-watching “their shows” together is a ritual they share. FRIENDS is one of the shows that kept coming up as a favorite.
And, as a FRIENDS fan myself, I thought it could be really fun to create a wedding reading entirely out of FRIENDS inside jokes and one-liners that die-hard fans adore. Who doesn’t want to celebrate marrying their lobster?
When should this reading be recited at my wedding?
Most couples choose to have a wedding reading included as part of the ceremony. This adds some personality and levity to the ceremony.
Plus, this is a great opportunity to ask a friend or family member to contribute. Ask someone important to you to recite the reading.
You can also use this reading as a sort of toast during the wedding reception.
Just look at this bride’s son. He and his mom share a love of FRIENDS and they know every episode by heart. So he read the reading during the dinner reception and clearly, it was a huge hit with guests.
Can you write a custom wedding reading for us?
As a wedding writer, I specialize in working with engaged couples and their wedding party to write custom vows and speeches.
I also work with your best friend or favorite aunt who you’ve selected to be your officiant to craft the wedding ceremony script. This includes everything from the opening remarks and the officiant’s address to the closing remarks.
Custom wedding readings are something I can help with as well. Whether it’s focusing on your favorite show or movie, or just learning about your hobbies and transforming this into a poem or reading to be recited during your ceremony, I’ve got you covered.

I’m Katelyn and I’m the owner and writer behind Wedding Words. I studied journalism in college but my love for asking poignant questions has always just been part of who I am.
Today, I use my passion for learning people’s stories and my skills as a writer to craft custom vows and speeches.
